I had so much fun at the Emmys this year. I was more than a little worried to leave Joe alone with the kids and Ray had a nurse visit that I was missing, but I am so glad I went and got out of the hospital and did something fun. I took my friend and neighbor Tiffany, who is so much fun, and here are some photos that she took and I stole from her blog!
Our plane to LA had a problem and we spent an hour or more on the runway before we had to switch planes, but hey, we were having a good time and didn't mind! Notice...NO BRACES! I got them off three days before we left. I was so happy.

Our hotel was a beautiful Marriott in downtown LA, which is where the Seat Filler luncheon was held. It was very convenient to just walk downstairs to the luncheon so I am glad we stayed here this year.

We thought this hotel decor was cool...it's fresh flowers and large bunches of broccoli!!

Even the bathroom was very sleek and well designed. A nice change for me from having to use the parent bathroom on the cancer floor all summer!

We took pictures of our dresses so we could go and shop for the right earrings and purses. I ended up buying 3 purses and 4 sets of earrings just in case! We had fun at the outdoor shopping mall called The Grove, and went to dinner and a movie as well.

The next morning we woke up and went to the hotel fitness center for a while to try to lose those last 10 pounds we were going to lose before we came:) but really all we did was sweat. Tiffany is a hair stylist and she did my hair in about 10 minutes (THANK YOU!) which was nice because it took me 45 minutes to put on my make-up...first time wearing Bare Minerals and real lipstick...I felt like I was 12 again. What a loser!! But I guess every girl is the same when it comes to your own hair, because Tiffany spent about an hour on hers! But it looked amazing of course.

We were trying to 'Smize' here but we kind of look mean instead! You can't really see but my earring were really long and sparkling fake diamond earrings. I got a lot of compliments on them and even one of the seat filler coordinators said they were the prettiest earrings she had ever seen. See..worth the shopping!
I don't know how Tiffany got this picture off the Internet but here she is behind Christine Baranski of the Good Wife. I was sitting three seats away right in the middle on the second row. We got to sit here for about 45 minutes. I was sitting behind Matthew Perry, Amy Poehler, Will Arnett, next to the Glee cast, and in front of Al Pacino, Anne Margaret, Susan Sarandon (who is TINY by the way), and John Goodman.

I also saw my favorites...Hugh Laurie and Heidi Klum who looked amazing in her short Marchesa dress. I saw the LOST guys that were there, the Top Chef hosts, Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson who was wearing the silliest chandelier shoes, and oh...GEORGE CLOONEY. I also finished the show by Todd Bridges (what you talking about Willis) who was very friendly and talked a lot to me. And basically every show that was there I saw most of the actors.
The show itself was good this year. Jimmy Fallon worked really hard and did a nice job hosting. He was classically funny and never crude.
I know this is not everyones cup of tea but I love it! I have so much fun seeing the actors, and have a blast with the other seat fillers, and I love getting dressed up.
Here was Tiffany on the red carpet. Gorgeous.

And us with some other seat fillers Julie and Tracie.

Every year after the show a big group of us meet for dinner. This year the restaurant had the show playing on the TVs so we watched together trying to find ourselves in the audience. It was so much fun. We also eat with the seat filler bosses and the pages who are assigned to the actors so we get to hear a lot of cool stories. My friend Lisa, was a page for Jane Lynch and Betty White this year and she had really positive things to say about them. The dinner afterward is also fun because none of us have eaten since the luncheon at 11, so we are all hungry and eat whatever junk we want! (which was onion rings and a fish burger for me and a giant piece of cake for Michaels birthday)
When we got back to the hotel, my feet were in bad shape from running around in heels all day, and my back was killing me because my dress was so tight I had to have perfect posture all day... and actually two of my toes are still numb. But...the price of fashion, totally worth it.
Here I am the next morning at the airport reading the paper's report of the Emmys. The dresses always look so different in print. They are seriously 10 times better in real life.

And here we are on the plane. We smiled for the camera....

...but we really felt like this....

And here is Utah. Home again. *sigh* Oops I mean, yay.

It was good to be back to reality with my kids and see that everyone was alright and had survived the weekend. Joe did a great job managing it all. I wouldn't want to live or work in Hollywood but it sure is fun to go there once a year and enjoy the show.

Wasn't that hotel a little too trendy? I couldn't stop thinking of IKEA!
Hello Georgous! How fun. I'm wondering where those pounds are that you were trying to work off in the gym. You look incredible.
How does one get tickets to the Emmy's?! That sounds like such a blast!
