Ruby's emergency plan

Tonight I reviewed with my kids what to do if I passed out or was hurt and they needed to get help. Ray obviously knows how to call 911 so he was easy. Ruby on the other hand is not quite ready to learn 911 (she's totally smart and could learn it...that's the problem...she's the kind of kid who would call 911 if I was like in the next room and she couldn't find me.)

So I taught Ruby that if I was hurt she should run next door and tell them I needed help. When we practiced Ray was the neighbor. I fell the floor dramatically "passing out". Ruby ran over to me shook my shoulder a few times, then ran next door (my bedroom) and when Ray opened the door Ruby said, "Someone is dead."

We all laughed so hard! It was really funny but I'm sure it would get our neighbors attention if there was a real emergency!!!

This is really funny. I remember teaching my son about 911 etc. but I never though to do rehearsals or drills. Damn, I can picture it and it would have been fun, wonder if he'd try it now at 20...hmm..course, I'd have to video tape it...lol

That is so cute! Spencer once called 911 without me knowing (I had accidentally left my cell phone by his bed) because there was a light bulb out in his room! Yikes.

I need to practice with my kids what to do in an emergency. Great idea! They'd probably step over me and get a forbidden snack or treat. :)
