What is and what isn't

My weekly report of What is and What isn't; where I am the judge and you scratch your head and wonder what's the point.

What isn't: Acne

This week I am jealous of my own child because she has perfectly clear, soft skin. She is three and her skin is like black satin. It's seriously gorgeous. But when you're three you aren't even grateful for that silky skin. Therefore your childhood skin is exposed to sun and chlorine, and words like "zit" and "pimple" make you and your sister laugh hysterically into each others shiny and bright smug little faces. Then you're in 7th grade Health and the teacher is handing out free Noxzema samples and saying to rub it into your "T-Zone" and you lose interest because you think she's talking about football. But lucky you...miraculously you make it through puberty with nary a break-out, fooling you to believe that Zest and Oil of Olay make a good skin care regiment! But fate is waiting for you and one day you wake up and there on your 32 year old face is...wait for it...acne! It's some kind of post-post-adolescent break out that won't let up no matter how much money you spend on skin care products...that have 8 steps....twice a day. And you wonder if potato chips and chocolate are still the cause of all those little red bumps on your face? Or are they saying now that the cause is stress, or bad genetics, or hormones, or not exercising enough, or slobbery baby kisses? What is causing this? Face, why are you failing me now? Don't you know I'm a grown woman?

Wait a minute. Hold up. Maybe this isn't a case of post-post-adolescent acne.
Maybe this is menopause.

Acne: It ISN'T!!!!!

What is: Family
This week some idiot employee at Jo-Sha Wipes committed her company to put labels on 20,000 wipes for a special client. You read it right people...20,000 and idiot. Upon realizing that Jo-Sha only has two employees and that one of them was half way around the world for his "real" job, so mentioned employee solicited the help of her family to apply the 20,000 labels. Sisters, brothers, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, grandma, grandpa, and even a boyfriend pitched in to help. It took us 80 man hours but we applied 20,000 labels and shipped 20 boxes of Jo-Sha/Zico Wipes in just a few days.
Not all fathers and mothers are. And even many siblings aren't. Mine certainly haven't always been. But when it comes down to it, when you really need someone, God gave us a family to call on for help. A family who loves you always and anyways and everyways and even though. Thank you so much guys.

Family: Mine is. Is yours?

Your right. We never really appreciate what we have as kids like clear skin, naps, going to bed early, eating many treats and not gaining weight, boundless energy, and lots of time on our hands to do as we please. I wonder what we have now that we won't appreciate till we're 80!
