Braces!!! What have I done??

I have always wanted braces and now I have them! And boy do I have them!! They hurt like crazy! Getting them on wasn't horrible but it wasn't fun either. And the first day wearing them is totally weird but not bad.

It's not until the next day that your teeth start to teeth like giant foreign objects hanging in your mouth! Eating is a total joke. It's like my mouth is full of Novocaine and I either barely feel the food being chewed so am choking down chunks or I can't keep the darn food in my mouth and it falls out. It's crazy. And when it's all over 90% of the food that went into my mouth is still clinging to my braces.

And don't even get me started on flossing!!!! It's like threading the tiniest needle 30 times in a row. Plus the floss keeps shredding and getting stuck.

My cheeks and lips are raw and hurting, it hurts to bite and even to talk....what was I thinking?!!!

My orthodontist, fellow AF grad Mike Rosvall, told me to keep remembering that I will be happy with the end result. But really...will I? Is it worth it??

Those of you who wore braces for years I applaud you. How did you do it?

P.S. Pictures to come....be prepared!

I got braces the day before Halloween when I was 13! I hated them. I wore them for 2 1/2 years. It was a happy day when I got mine on because I had to have a different orthodontist that day because my regular dr was having his put on! Good pay back. I think because of my bad experience...I would rather have ANY gynecological exam known to man...as long as I don't have to see the dentist.

I am trying to think why you would need them? But i cant wait to see the pictures. Use the wax.

My older sister (16 years older) adopted a baby from Korea, she is now 22. So, I have always know that adopted kids don't have to feel abandoned or like a piece of them is missing. Then I met my husband, also adopted, and if you go back and read the links I have on adoption and the process we went through, you will see that he very rarely even thinks about his adoption. He has always said that his birth parents gave him up for a reason and his life was great. He loves his parents and siblings and there is nothing missing. I'll add you to my reader. If you need someone to talk to who's been through the process, I don't mind swapping numbers either. God bless.
