Goodbye glasses, hello world

I know there are a lot more important things going on in all of our lives right now, but I am excited about something that I am doing tomorrow. I am getting LASIK eye surgery tomorrow morning!
You may not know this, but I have worn glasses/contacts for 23 years! Can you believe that? I am so ready to be done with contact solution, dry eyes, ordering contacts, cleaning, breaking, and losing my glasses, etc. I am really looking forward to a life of hassle free clear vision.

But you know what's funny, I am feeling a little sad tonight as I am thinking about losing the fuzzy images I see now without my glasses. I have always loved how my vision obscures people into big blobs of color and everything is soft and pretty. I love how any kind of light or lamp becomes a HUGE beautiful shimmering ball of blurry light. My vision now is a way for me to retreat to a calm world where I can walk through my house and just see soft beautiful colors and not have to process each item as I see it; a pencil, a toy, a picture, a shoe....they all just become colorful space that surrounds me and not things I have to see, process, and worry about. It's really quite lovely. And if you think about it, this vision albeit it a blurry and blind view, has always been my world and it is so personal to me it seems sad to not have that be a part of my life. But the benefits of being contact/glasses free far outweigh the loss of my own private view of things so I'm still going to go through with it.

I know I sound ridiculous, I am probably just feeling a little nervous. But mostly I am excited.

So take one last look people! Tomorrow the glasses will be gone.

Wow! How exciting! I had no idea you were doing this. Good luck! I am sure you will love it. Love and miss you! p.s. I like you in glasses, I will miss them!!

Good luck on the surgery! I love how you described the world as you see it without any visual aid. I think indoors, I would much prefer that perspective, too. But outdoors is what will make it worth it to you. To be able to see a tree from a distance, and notice each individual leaf flow with the wind is an amazing sight.

Good luck!! I'll be honest and say we're a little jealous, but also so excited for you! All the best!
