Poor Ruby! She likes it when her hair is done, but she HATES getting it done. Sounds familiar to anyone else??
I put her hair in braids for almost a month and last week I took them out and brushed out her hair. It was serious torture. She cried, she screamed,
she said "It hurts!!"
When I was finished, her hair was so big and her face was so sad, I just had to take some pictures.
This first one is like a bad mug shot!!

Aaawww, she looks so sad. Here is a tip, try wetting the hair and applying some leave in conditioner before combing the hair. Also, you can try combing the hair from the tip and make your way to the roots. It also helps a bunch when you comb the hair in 'portions'.
My sister in law has 2 african american girls and she eventually got extentions put into their hair. They only have to do their hair like 3 times a year. It takes about 4 hrs. but their hair is really long and cute. But Ruby's braids are darling too. Maybe in a few years when she's little older?

I haven't looked at your blog in forever because I couldn't find it since you changed the name. I'm glad I found it though! I've been wondering how you guys are doing. That picture is hilarious!! Poor Ruby! Madie cries almost every time I brush her hair. She either has an extremely sensitive head or just hates having her hair brushed I think its a little of both. I cant wait to see pics of the braids too! Oh and I read down a little bit on your blog. I totally had braces forever!! and I hated it. probably because I had them during high school and some of college and my orthodontist was horrible. I had them for 8 years and I'm still not totally happy with the results. but I'm sure you wont have them nearly that long. I hope its going alright. and sorry I just wrote a novel.
I have a tender head and hated my mom doing anything with my hair! Anything!!!! But my messy hair never looked as cute as Ruby's does!
Look at all that hair! I don't have any advice. I have a hard enough time with Samuel's hair and it isn't even long. Good luck. I am sure the braids will be so cute.
Oh man, you should hear my house in the morning. Aive and Caroline both scream like they're losing their lives. It's obnoxious.
What precious photos! Her big brown eyes in that first one are enough to melt any mama's heart.
I wish I had some advice for you! Be sure to tell your darling Ruby that she is amazingly beautiful, even when she is sad.
