On Saturday we took our kids to Provo's Bean Museum where they were literally in awe of the animals there. Ray has been there many times, but the three little ones had never been and couldn't believe it. Ruby handled it of course by asking a million questions...."Why is it dead? Who killed it? Why are the eyes marbles? Why do real eyes get gross? What does stuffed mean?"
Solomon and Ammon were so amazed by the animals that they were SO good and SO cute!
The BEST part was that one of the workers recognized us (she is an old roommate of Joe's sister Sarah) and she called Sarah and her husband Bryan and they came to the museum! Then she gave us a private showing of the live reptile room! We got to feed the giant turtle, hold the frog, pet the iguana, and hold the snakes.
Actually Ray and I were the only ones brave enough to hold the snakes....not even Joe would do it! Chicken!
Ruby was interested, but WAY scared of the snakes. After the museum we braved to take all four children to Brick Oven, one of my favorite restaurants. The kids ate a ton of soda and pizza but Joe and I were so busy fixing straws, wiping spills, cutting pizza, getting more napkins..we barely even finished salads! No joke! Our kids are so high maintenance right now it's exhausting.
Then we headed over to Seven Peaks Skating Rink and re-joined Sarah and Bryan for some ice skating!
Solomon and mom rocked it around the ice together. His little ice skates were adorable and he was seriously the happiest kid at the rink. He smiled the entire time!
THANK YOU Sarah and Bryan for helping out...here with Solomon...and Ray in front of them all on his own....second time ever to skate and he was a little natural!
Miss Ruby with the ice walker! She did a great job and skated the whole time but she is NOT the child who smiles the whole time. She has to concentrate and figure it out.
Joe was the hero on the sidelines who had to stay off the ice with baby Ammon because there were NO STROLLERS ALLOWED ON THE ICE! Evidently that's a really big rule and we were bummed about it and they both were dying to get out there. But they were great cheerleaders and we all still had a really great time. Here's to family fun!!

WHAT A GREAT TIME! ICKY SNAKES!
What an awesome day! I'm very jealous! We are going to have to hit the Bean Museum soon. Looks like were were definately channeling your inner olympian out there on the ice! What a great family day!
Shannan you're the best mom. How fun. My youngest is 3 now and even with that, it is soooo much easier. We're just starting to brave restaurants again. Just in time to start all over again. Whew! Give me strength. In a way it's good your last 3 are so close together. You'll get this hard part over in one shot. It will get easier. And then they'll all be teenagers!
We had so much fun. Thanks for letting us crash your party a little. You kids did great on the ice. I love how Solomon just would not let go of his skate at the end. We love you guys!
Reading your blog makes me homesick! I love living in VA but I sure do miss some of the stuff back home. Thanks for sharing your fun day!!!

P.S.
Totally unrelated - I just found your comment over on my pointy-head blog (uh...I haven't visited it for a while...) To answer your questions/comments: Thanks for the props on my writing - my momma is a writer and it runs in my blood I guess. If you think my stuff is good, you should read her's or some of my brother's. Iz good stuff. My Ph.D. will be in Instructional Technology & Learning Sciences should I ever finish. "God willin' and the crick don't rise" it should be in May 2011.
Whoa!! You hit all the best stuff in P-town in one day!! I miss Brick Oven...
What a FUN DAY!!!!
