Bad children, good mommy

So I had a "date" last night with about 20 of my friends from Provo and it was amazing! It was so good to be with all of them again and thanks to our blogs we all still knew basically what was going on with each other. I am totally one of those women who thrives on my relationships with other women and these girls are some of the best! It was so fun just to laugh, eat, talk, and be reminded that I am not the only one out there "fighting the fight" every day on the motherhood battlefield.

I came home with fresh ideas and I felt so renewed this morning, with a desire to be a better mother....which was good because my kids were totally BANANAS today. Ray woke up early, Ruby had shots AND the dentist, Solomon missed his nap, and Ammon got circumsized (poor baby!). They were all hating on each other, hating on me, and Ray even declared that everything in the whole world is idiot! (his new substitute word for stupid)

On a lesser day I would have lost it for sure and they would have spent most of the day in time out. But today I felt a little more patient and creative and only lost my cool once (when Ruby stuck her tongue out at me at bedtime...it's always the little stuff isn't it? And it's ALWAYS around bedtime!) But other than that, I was a kind, loving, patient mother today despite it all.

One small step for mankind. One giant step for me.

Aren't girls nights so great? I should have brought my own Lazy Boy, next time, LOL! Way to go in the patience deparment! You passed the Post-Girls Night Out "equal and opposite test"! Congrats! I failed miserably, so I'm glad someone did better :)

That was so much fun. I felt better and rejuvenated afterwards, able to give more patience. What a blessing girls' night out is!
